What is Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injections made up of Hyaluronic Acid. Dermal fillers can prevent or reduce deep lines and wrinkles, fill hollows, rise, plump, enhance & sunken areas and help to highlight and contour your facial appearance. Anti-ageing dermal fillers are the non-surgical route clients can take to boost the way they look and feel, whilst allowing them to achieve a long lasting younger look and to volumise tired lines and wrinkles.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to our skin. It’s job is to fill the gaps between collagen and the elastin fibres in our skin. It is very safe and Julie has never had any problems in her 8 years of injecting.

They are natural, animal friendly making it a valuable product for skin regeneration and anti-ageing.

What training has Emma had for Dermal Fillers?

Emma has completed her foundation and advanced Dermal filler training, this consisted of many practical assessments, intensive home study and case studies were then submitted to gain these qualifications.

Is there anything I should know prior to the treatment?

-Client must be 18 years old or older.

-Dermal fillers are contraindicated in patients who are pregnant or breast-feeding,laser and skin peels in the last 1-2 years, highly allergic patients, patients with auto-immune diseases or those with keloids or hypertrophic scars. Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment. Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.

-Avoid using aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs a couple of days before your treatment (unless they are taken for chronic medical conditions). Avoiding these medications will reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the point of injection.

-Schedule your Dermal Filler appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation.

-A few days prior to treatment I recommends you minimise the intake of alcohol, vitamin E, ginseng, green tea, & gingko blob which can all make you more prone to bruising.

-If you suffer from cold sores I advise that you use a topical treatment 7 day pre and post treatment.

What does the treatment involve?

You may be offered a local anaesthetic cream. The practitioner injects the filler in a series of small injections and then will massage the area. The treatment time can vary from 30 minutes to an hour. It may be uncomfortable, but should not be very painful.

What are the after effects and aftercare of the treatment?

The area may be a little swollen, tender and red for 24 hours and there is a possibility of bruising. But following our pre filler instructions and this will minimise the chance of bruising. For 24 hours after the treatment I recommend that you avoid, make up, alcohol, exercise, sauna and the sun or sunbeds.
